So, July saw the completion of our junior summer training, matches and prize giving and a big thank you to all those involved. The holidays are now well and truly upon us, but we still have a good number of fixtures to fulfil, so don’t hesitate, make yourself available for the last few games, because once they’re gone……. it’s a long winter without cricket! Our net facility is open all year round, so if you want to brush up on those skills or remove that awful shot from the armoury then please take advantage of our great net.
On the event front we have our end of season dinner booked for Friday 14th September, with the usual 6.30pm for 7.30pm start, so please respond to the invitation when it is sent out via email in the next day or so. The dinner is open to all club members (and partners) – adults and parents of juniors (and even some of the older juniors!) and you will enjoy fantastic food at the G&D with great company and hear first-hand the up and downs of the season with all the funny bits included.
In October we will see the return of our Cricket Club Quiz Night on Friday 12th. This is a great fundraising event and I’m pleased to announce we have secured the services of the great quizmaster himself…. James ‘Muddy’ Waters. There will be a bar until late, and we are looking for teams of up to 6 people with a low entry fee of £6 per head. On the event front, it would also be great if our members support the George & Dragon over the bank holiday weekend – they will be running a beer and music festival. As one of the club’s sponsors, it is good to support them, and I am sure you won’t need too much encouragement!
So last things, remember it’s the Chairman’s Team vs the Treasurer’s Team on the 2nd September which will be the normal combination of bacon rolls, cricket, drinks and food. If we have enough players we might even turn the day into a mini-series, so again make your selves available, please!
2019 will mark our 150th anniversary, so can you all send us details of any club memorabilia from years gone by that you might have, press cuttings etc so that we can improve our records and hopefully provide some more detail on our wonderful club history.
That’s it for now enjoy the rest of the playing season and see you at all the events above!
