I can’t believe that the 2018 summer season is almost here.
Since the end of last August which saw our 1st team reach Division 1 and our 2nd XI finish respectably in their Division we have had our Awards Dinner in October, our AGM in December and then in January our junior nets commenced at Judd School. The junior nets sessions have been very well attended and I thank all those who have coached and all those youngsters (and their parents!) who have come along to keep their cricketing skills ready for the summer season.
During the winter we were gifted a first class bowling machine—this is now ready to use so look out for it during one of our outdoor training sessions in the near future.
We were also very happy to announce that the George & Dragon has become a major sponsor, in addition to supporting the club, the G&D has organised that every member (once they’ve paid their subs!) will receive a discount card to use on food and drink from Mondays to Thursdays—we remain extremely grateful to Chris Cozens of the G&D and to all of our sponsors for their input.
A reminder that we will be holding pre-season drinks at the G&D on Friday 20th April 2018. I encourage all members (junior parents too!) to come along and celebrate the start of the 2018 season. I look forward to seeing many of you there.
The following morning (Sat 21st April) we will be preparing the pavilion and the area immediately outside—it is just a general tidy up and stock take to make sure we have everything ready so if you’d like to come along and help, please do—there is also the added enticement of a bacon roll and a lovely cup of coffee too for all helpers!
