Message from the Chairman – April 2017

Welcome all to the new 2017 season, let us banish the dark winter months with thoughts of long summer days, playing cricket for all ages in the fresh air, and enjoying ourselves along the way.

We have a packed season of league and friendly fixtures plus all our regular junior training, teams and games, so turn up, play and enjoy! This season our adults competing in Div 2 and Div 7 of the KCVL, and our U11s, U13s & U15s will take part in the new Invicta League which promises to offer more balanced matches and opposition. To get us in the mood all are invited to attend the pre-season social/get together on 21st April at the G&D.

We have been working hard during the close season to secure a new permanent net facility for all to use which will enhance our training and practice sessions, but more on this in the coming weeks. Our coaching staff have been busy with our popular winter net sessions at Judd school, and all have attended a recent first-aid work shop to brush up on our skills with a sticky plaster!

But enough of all this pre-season activity, I want to leave you with my key chairman’s message which is recruit, recruit and recruit. We potentially have more available players than last year, but not wishing to rest on our laurels I would like all members, both playing and non-playing , including all our juniors and parents to encourage new members to join what a unique and brilliant village club (I am completely biased of course!) We are also looking for volunteers to help out across the club in various roles from team secretaries for our junior sides, bacon butty crew members for those essential calories on a Saturday morning and also an additional club welfare officer to work alongside Alison. So if you can think of anyone who might want to play or help out to make the magic happen on and off the pitch, let me know.

See you all soon.

Nick Coffin, Chairman
