A happy new year to everyone. As winter nets get underway and the outdoor cricket season is mere months away, it’s the time of year to think about the club’s Annual General Meeting and other pre-season matters.
Firstly, some important news: We’re excited to announce that Mark Flemington has accepted the role of Chairman of Speldhurst Cricket Club. Mark retired from his playing duties last season but his love for SCC meant he wasn’t able to get very far! We’ll hear more from Mark at the AGM and in the coming months, as well as some other committee reshuffling.
We’re also able to announce a changing of the club Presidency. After six years as club figurehead, Denis Giannini has stepped down and handed over the reins to Paul Eames. Paul’s history with Speldhurst stretches back decades as a villager, player, former Chairman, and winner of the bowling cup six times and batting twice (take a look) and we look forward to having him on board as President.
As members, or parents of members, of Speldhurst Cricket Club, you’re invited to the AGM to be held on Friday 2nd February at 6.30pm, at the George and Dragon pub. Attached (and below) is the formal notice of the AGM, and an event notification has been sent out on Spond. We encourage ALL members to attend this meeting and have their say on the running of the club!
